Android Montastic Widget
We did it again, another app for our beloved Android. It runs on android versions from 1.5 to 2.2.

App lets you see the status of all your web servers monitored with montastic service. You need a Montastic account to use this widget, montastic is “The website monitoring service that doesn’t suck” please visit montastic site for more info.
Montastic Widget will remain green as long as all your servers are well, showing time of last update. When one or more have problems, it will turn red and show you how many servers are not responding.
Widget also supports notification alert, which is active by default. Alert will play your default notification sound and will activate green blinking led light. That’s all folks, if you have suggestions or feature requests please hit reply button.

Nice one, but seems to use a lot battery. Perhaps it keeps the WiFi turned on or something. I’ve set refresh interval to 60 minutes now to see if it helps.
Also a 24-hours clock option on the “last checked time” on the widget would be great for non-us users.
Hi Pål, I’m also using widget myself, widget does not not keep wifi turned on, it uses available internet connection (3G or WiFi) when the refresh interval is reached. If internet connection is not available it will report network error and widget will turn blue, widget will not try to turn wifi connection on. If the android device is not used, suspended, when interval is reached, widget will wake up device and look up montastic status, after this device will return to sleep again.
Only action that widget performs, when placed on home screen, are look ups in defined interval. Increasing refresh interval will sure help to avoid battery drain.
I’m curios, how much did it increased battery usage, approximately, and what device you are using?
I will add support for 24 hours clock format option in next version.
I’m using a HTC Hero with an Android 2.1. I noticed a dramatic fall in battery life after starting to use the widget, but it might be related to other software I installed about the same time. When I check my battery stats (under about phone) WiFi is responsible for about 60% of the usage. WiFi is supposed to turn off a few minutes after the screen goes off. But on my device it’s not doing that anymore. I assume it’s because some app uses WiFi and therefor keeps it on.
Hmm, you could check this setting on your device:
Please go to Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings. Click the Menu button and select the Advanced option. Select Wi-Fi sleep policy and then set the relevant option. I have selected sleep ‘When screen turns off’.
